Privacy
This is the portfolio site of Gleb Tanskiy, a motion designer based in Bali, Indonesia. It sets no cookies and has no forms. It keeps simple visit statistics so I can see which work people watch and whether it is easy to get in touch. This page explains what is recorded and why.
Visit statistics
A small script of my own records:
- the parts of the page you view and for how long, and the buttons and links you press;
- which videos you play and how much of each you watch;
- where the pointer rests, in a coarse grid;
- the site you came from, your device and browser type, screen size, language and time zone.
Cloudflare, which runs this site, tells me your country, city and network provider. Your IP address is not stored.
- In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the script asks first. Until you press OK it stores nothing on your device; if you press OK, it keeps a random visitor number in your browser’s local storage, so repeat visits are counted once. “No thanks” is remembered.
- Elsewhere it keeps that random number without asking. In Russia it stores nothing on your device and counts visits with a one-way code that changes every day.
Personal links
If I emailed you a link of the form motion.tanskiy.com/ followed by five letters, that link was made for your company. A visit through it is linked to the company it was made for, so I know the email reached you and which work you looked at. Links I share on Upwork, Fiverr or elsewhere can also carry a short label of where they were shared.
Getting in touch
- Telegram. The Telegram button opens a chat with my bot @tanskiy_motion_bot and passes it a short code of your visit. When you write, I can see which work you watched on the site. The bot receives your Telegram name and the messages and files you send.
- Email. If you write to glebtann@gmail.com, I get your name and address as your email program sends them, and your message.
I use this only to reply to you and to discuss your project. No newsletters, and nothing is sold or shared.
Who processes it
- Cloudflare — this website and the visit statistics. Raw records stay there for up to 120 days. Cloudflare’s own Web Analytics also counts page views, without cookies.
- DigitalOcean — the server of my own dashboard, which keeps a copy of the visit statistics and of the Telegram chats.
- Telegram — the messages you send to the bot.
- Google — email, which runs on Gmail.
